Conference-discussion on the retention of French-speaking newcomers

Conseil de développement économique des Territoires du Nord-Ouest (CDETNO) and Communauté francophone accueillante (CFA) are organizing a conference-discussion on January 28th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Explorer Hotel. The topic is the integration and retention of French-speaking immigrant workers in the NWT.

The objective is to raise awareness among NWT employers regarding the added value that French-speaking immigrants bring to businesses, in addition to discussing issues related to the immigrant workforce’s integration and retention in order to highlight the facilitating conditions.

The event will have 2 components. During the first part, the speakers-panelists will address the following themes:

  1. The added value that immigration brings to businesses
  2. Good practices and challenges related to the immigrant workforce’s integration and retention

The conference will then be followed by a panel discussion on the above topics and an evening of networking.

Due to the pandemic, space is limited. All social distancing measures as per Health authorities will be strictly followed.

To mark the occasion, Conseil de développement économique des Territoires du Nord-Ouest (CDETNO), the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) and the Réseau en Immigration francophone (RIFTNO) are honouring four Francophone immigrants who chose the Northwest Territories as their new home.

They talk to us about their immigrant journeys, the challenges they may have encountered and their Soft spot.

They certainly have different backgrounds, however, they all have one thing in common: They all came to Canada’s North and decided to stay here!
