Skills Training Coordinator, NWT Career Centre
Job Type: Full-time (37.5 hours/week)
About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our team in the role of Skills Training Coordinator to help job seekers in the North Slave region develop the skills they need to meet there career goals.
You will work directly with clients to find and facilitate short-term training programs that prepare them for jobs in high demand across the Northwest Territories (NWT). This includes hands-on training, workshops, and certifications like WHMIS, Food Safe, and SuperHost®.
What You’ll Do
- Help Clients Find and Build Skills:
- Identify training programs available in the NWT or online.
- Create a training plan that fits their goals and helps them get ready for jobs.
- Provide Training and Support:
- Facilitate or arrange short-term skills training, like workplace safety and customer service certifications.
- Help clients with applications and funding if they need formal education (like a high school diploma or college courses).
- Maintain a Database of Training Options:
- Keep track of local and online training programs, including details like costs, eligibility, and schedules.
- Work Closely with the Team:
- Collaborate with career coaches, team members and other organizations to provide the best support for clients.
- Serve a Diverse Group of Clients:
- Offer excellent support to people from diverse backgrounds, including those with varying levels of education and skills.
What We’re Looking For
You might be a great fit for this role if you:
- Have experience helping people learn skills or facilitate training.
- Are comfortable using tools like Microsoft Office, online learning platforms, or e-learning systems.
- Can organize and manage several projects at once.
- Communicate well and enjoy working with people.
- Speak more than one of the NWT’s official languages (this is a bonus but not required).
