Duties and Responsibilities:

The full-time Job Developer/Career Facilitator will work at our NWT Territories office in our Creative Options for Employment program (CEO)

  • Under the direction of the Regional Manager, the Job Developer/Career Facilitator is responsible for building lasting relationships with local employers to create long term employment opportunities for clients. This position will also work collaboratively with other Job Developers, Case and Senior Case Managers and Career Facilitators to support clients in securing and maintaining employment. This position is responsible for facilitating group and one-to-one sessions on employment topics pertaining to Career & Personal Development, Wellness for Work and Job Development. Deliver workshops and administer assessments in a group setting, one-to-one and round table workshop setting. Will use a combination of tools, including online learning tools (Moodle, Skillsoft, Zoom)

Duties and Responsibilities:

Job Developer:

  • Work collaboratively with a Job Developer, Case Managers and Career Facilitators in understanding needs and occupational goals of clients and implement strategies for securing employment.
  • Prepare participants for employment marketing and provide job search assistance and marketing support
  • Identify appropriate job leads and assist clients to access the hidden job market; support transition into employment; liaise with employers in order to generate employment leads
  • Attend local tradeshows/conferences, networking opportunities and other community events
  • Market wage subsidy and non-wage subsidy employer services
  • Negotiate and prepare wage subsidy agreements, prepare employer documents and other required documents as needed
  • Provide ongoing follow-up support to clients and employers, as needed
  • Enter all program notes and job development activities into appropriate database; maintain up-to-date employer and client databases
  • Ensure all reporting for the program and other information pertaining to client documentation are completed on time and maintained in adherence to policies and procedures
  • As a continuous intake process will be followed in WTEEE, this position will perform duties in a variety of settings and for different clients on a regular basis.

 

Career Facilitator:

  • Facilitate both group sessions to participants and provide one-to-one support tailored to the individual’s action plan
  • The Career Facilitator will also be responsible for collecting certain documents and assignments from clients throughout each program. These will be kept in the hard file and added to throughout the client’s time in the program and ensure content is in place for program for audit purposes.
  • Keep in close contact with every client. Ensures client progress is always up to date in program database.
  • Attend regular meetings facilitated by Senior Career Facilitator to discuss curriculum/resource content, program delivery and client progress
  • Ensure regular contact maintained with Case Managers, other Career Facilitators and Job Developers regarding client information and progression
  • Ensure all statistics, case notes, reports, consents and other information pertaining to client documentation are completed on time and maintained in adherence to policies and procedures on WTEEE database, on a minimum weekly basis.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Other Duties:

 

  • As required, delivers Basic Technology Skills programming to adults with, but not limited to, physical disabilities onsite and by distance learning following all program guidelines. Ensures ethics and standards of adult education-based program delivery are maintained
  • Work with participants in a group and one-on-one, to encourage individual clients to work independently within a cooperative, supportive learning environment;

 

General Responsibilities

  • Deliver services in the spirit and philosophy of the Neil Squire Society;
  • Participate in professional development activities;
  • Communicate among staff to address and resolve participant, staff and program issues;
  • Provide information and referral support to inquiries about NSS and its programs;
  • Ensure confidentiality is maintained within the office for both clients and staff;
  • Liaise with relevant community agencies and establishes appropriate partnerships;
  • Participate in regular staff meetings and participant reviews;
  • Follow occupational health and safety practices as required;
  • Represent the Neil Squire Society at functions/meetings as requested;
  • Work with Regional Manager to assess efficacy of program and to modify approach as needed;
  • Maintain all relevant statistics on prescribed forms;
  • Other duties as may be assigned;

 

Education, Training, Experience and Other Requirements:

  • Relevant Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Social Sciences or a related field and/or CDP Certificate. Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in employment counseling
  • Facilitation experience is required
  • Knowledge and experience of employment counseling and disabilities is a strong asset
  • Experience conducting various needs assessments
  • Knowledge of various assessment tools and community resources
  • Advanced computer skills using Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to communicative effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Familiar with online learning tools
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Successful Criminal Record Check

 

Required Skills

  • Must be fully knowledgeable about the social, health and other issues facing people with disabilities in Canada
  • Must be client centred and have a holistic approach to employment planning
  • Must be a good listener and be willing to individually counsel participants as required re: employment options/considerations
  • Proven knowledge of word processing, office computer applications and the Internet
  • Knowledge and experience in principles of adult education, disability issues, current labour market, social policy issues and other issues related to employment
  • Knowledge of assistive devices and their application
  • Understanding of government policies, procedures and program funding mechanisms
  • Proven knowledge of Myers Briggs Personality Type Indicator; Strong Interest Inventory; Transferable Skills Analysis and/or other assessment tools

 

Education, Training, Experience and Other Requirements:

Additional Information: Work Schedule – Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours week
