The Social Collective is a non-profit organization whose mission is to develop and support community and
social initiatives that address the needs of students and young adults aged 18 to 35 across Turtle
Island/Canada. Our actions take place in post-secondary educational settings, work environments as well as in all spheres of society and community settings where young people live, thrive, and evolve.
The Social Collective is seeking contributors in Yellowknife (NWT) to expand the network of
establishments participating in the Order an Angelot program. The program aims to prevent sexual and gender-based violence in bars and festive spaces and is free of charge to participating bars across Yellowknife (NWT). An "Angelot" is a fake cocktail one could order at any accredited establishment to signal that they've been subjected to sexual violence and that they need help. We provide training to equip bar staff with the knowledge and skills to respond effectively to such situations and prevent sexual violence from happening in the first place. As a contributor, your primary mission will involve promoting the program within local bars and establishments. This entails visiting bars, initiating contact with management, presenting the program and helping to coordinate logistics for training sessions.

The selected candidate must be available to start on December 9th, 2024.

Responsibilities
● Conduct visits to bars in Yellowknife (NWT), establish contact with managers, and present the
Order an Angelot program;
● Conduct regular follow-ups with interested establishments and compile reports after each shift;
● Maintain and develop positive relationships with key contacts in relevant bars;
● Provide assistance to the team during in-person training at partnered bars.
Required Qualifications and Skills
● Willing to work atypical hours as required;
● Valid driver’s license and access to a car;
● Excellent oral communication skills;
● Ability to work independently and proactively;
● Sensitivity to and knowledge of social issues impacting youth;
● Previous experience in the bar industry (an asset).
Compensation and Benefits
● Hourly wage of 40$ ;
● Work-related expenses are covered;
● Flexible hours: Candidates can choose their workload and hours per week, based on their
availability and preferences.
