Treasury Officer, Yellowknife (up to 1 year term)

The Treasury Officer manages the WSCC’s bank and investment accounts to ensure expenditures, payroll,
claimants and commitments are met in accordance to procedures related to investment management and
insurance to ensure effective custody, safeguarding and control of WSCC assets. The Treasury Officer
operates in accordance with the Workers’ Compensation Acts, the Financial Administration Acts, the Income
Tax Act and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; the Treasury Officer provides expert advice to the
Manager, Financial Reporting.
Located in Yellowknife, NT and reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, this position works as part of
the Financial Reporting team to provide services to all staff of the WSCC in both the NT and NU by ensuring
WSCC banking services, insurance and investments are properly authorized, coded and processed along with
ensuring all documents are duly audited and compliant with Policies and Regulations. The position ensures
effective cash flow and investment management for the WSCC by operating the WSCC’s daily cash position
and administering the WSCC’s banking agreements, banking services, and investment pool. The Treasury
Officer maintains a constant analysis of cash position and future cash requirements, which involves
monitoring and managing significant funds.
Typically, the qualifications for the role would be attained by the successful completion of a relevant
Bachelor's degree and certification as Treasury Professional or completion of module 1 of the Chartered
Professional Accountant (CPA) program, or completion of 1st level of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
designation; and three (3) years' experience working in directly related field.
Salary ranges from $49.12 to $58.68 hourly (approx. $95,784 to $114,426 yearly), plus a Northern Allowance
of $3,700 yearly.
