Duration: Permanent - Full Time

Time: 30-37.5 hours per week

Bush Order Provisions is looking to add a Value-Add Baker to our team. This motivated person will join our small team to undertake the role of preparing many of our value-add products (frozen pizzas, pies, sausage rolls) and baking of many of Bush Order’s secondary breads and baked products, as well as assisting the primary operation of the kitchen (bagging, packaging, cleaning).

The position will be self-managed and self-guided, and responsible for, but not be limited to the following operational requirements; processing vegetables and meats, preparing ingredients and fillings for baked products, pizzas, sausage rolls, cookies and cream cheese production, cutting imported cheeses (cheesemonger), assisting with shaping many secondary baked products such as sandwich bread, and bagels, baking and/or boiling said products; bagging and labelling products; and closing down the bakery kitchen for the day.

As a small team, we communicate regularly and are in constant pursuit of the most efficient production schedule possible

This prep-cook/baker position will provide, for the right candidate, the opportunity to learn and advance in various different products and kitchen skills.

It is preferred, though not necessary, that candidates be familiar with working in a retail/commercial kitchen or bakery, and have kitchen cleaning experience or knowledge, although training can be provided for the right candidate.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Bakery/Food Production Support
  • Processing vegetables and meats for filling and toppings;
  • Shape, boil and bake bagels;
  • Top and bake focaccia;
  • Mix, shape, bake scones/biscuits, and soft pretzels;
  • Hand-stretch and bake pizza shells;
  • Prep pizza ingredients;
  • Prepare frozen pizzas;
  • Prepare take-home frozen food products;
  • Sausage rolls, hand pies, as per recipes and direction.
  • Process vegetables coming in from the garden;
  • Bag and label bread products;
  • Prepare products for delivery;
  • Maintain high level of food safety:
  • Follow all cold storage and hot holding procedures;
  • Wipe and sanitize all surfaces;
  • Follow proper dish washing procedures;
  • Clean and sanitize all mixing equipment;
  • Sweep and mop floors daily;
  • Help clean staff bathroom;
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work space!
  • Communicate inventory levels on an ongoing basis.

Application Requirements

  • Applicants must live in (or be willing to relocate to) Yellowknife, NT;
  • Ability to lift up to 20kg comfortably;
  • Ability to be on your feet for long hours at a time;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced food production environment and multitask;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management;
  • Have your own transportation to and from work.
  • Skills in commercial kitchen work - cooking/baking/etc.

Salary : Hourly $19.50-24.50/hour
