Position Title: CBYF Youth Intern
Type of Position: Internship, 8 months, 10 hours per week
Term: August 2020 to March 2021
Compensation: Wage of $20.68 per hour

The CBYF - Youth Internship provides a high school youth with an opportunity to plan, design, and implement a community project during an eight-month internship. The internship placement will be hosted by SideDoor where a youth will get mentorship from the CBYF Project Coordinator to create a project that addresses a community issue in areas such as (but not limited to): environmental conservation, community development, youth engagement, health and wellness, or poverty reduction. (The project the intern decides to do must also involve youth in some way).
This internship is a one-time position as part of the larger CBYF project which is a 5-year collective impact strategy funded by the Government of Canada and implemented by Tamarack Institute in up to 13 communities across Canada. The CBYF project aims at engaging youth facing barriers and supporting them to successfully complete high school and successfully transition from high school to post-secondary, trades, or employment.
To be eligible for the internship, applicants must:
● Be currently in high school or currently completing high school courses.
● Be between the ages of 15 -29.
● Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and legally entitled to work in Canada.
● Commit to working at least 10 hours per week for 8 months.
● Complete a criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.
