Pan-Territorial conference/discussion: The benefit and retention of the immigrant workforce

B2B Virtual Fair

The B2B Virtual Fair will take place online, during two half-days, on October 26 and 27, 2021.
The B2B Virtual Fair will be a space to:

  • introduce you to potential pools of francophone candidates through which you can hire talent;
  • inform you about IRCC and provincial and territorial programs that support francophone immigration;
  • introduce you to the various services available to help you in your recruitment in Canada and abroad (Destination Canada Forum Mobility, Virtual Job Fairs, Public Employment Services);
  • exchange on the needs of the labour market in the context of the pandemic and in the longer term.

The B2B Virtual Fair will also host practical workshops to equip you with tools and resources for international recruitment.

The 2021 Liaison Tour starts tomorrow!

The Liaison Tour hosts two major events: the Community meetings and the B2B Virtual Fair for employers.

September 14 and 15, 2021 – Meeting sessions for community stakeholders!

The goal of the community meetings is to position Francophone immigration as a solution for Canadian employers and to discuss its impact on the communities. They will also allow to:

  • discover the tools available to you in order to attract qualified francophone and bilingual
    workers;
  • learn about the francophone Mobility program;
  • identify services to foster workforce retention.

NWT Circular Economy Movement

Are you interested in sustainable development? Would you like to help us develop the NWT Circular Economy Movement?


We invite you to be a part of the NWT Circular Economy Movement plan, an exciting initiative taking place in Yellowknife.

The project’s purpose is to develop a Circular Economy Movement Label for Yellowknife by collaborating with a range of local stakeholders. 
Conseil de développement économique des Territoires du Nord-Ouest (CDETNO) is working with Arete Initiative to deliver this project, which is funded by CanNor.

Through monthly virtual workshops from May to July, key stakeholders from the Yellowknife community will explore how to maximize economic, environmental, and social benefits by joining the Circular Economy Movement for their organization and for Yellowknife. 

All workshops will be hosted virtually on Zoom and will run from 10 am until 3 pm MT with a 1-hour break for lunch.

Dates are as follows:

  • Workshop #1:  Wednesday, May 12th, 2021 (Intrduction to Circular Economy)
  • Workshop #2: Thursday, June 10th, 2021 (Community’s Needs and Desire for Circular Economy)
  • Workshop #3: Thursday, July 15th, 2021 (Presentation of a Pilot Circular Economy Program)

Destination Canada Job Fair

CDETNO will attend for the 13th time Destination Canada Job Fair, in Paris and Brussels, from November 15th to 19th.

Two CDETNO’s employees will promote employment opportunities and the lifestyle in the Northwest Territories to hundreds of European jobs seekers. The forum will also allow candidates to obtain all relevant information on economic immigration, life in Canada and immigration support programs.

Seeking your donations of outdoor work and office wear

 

 

Dress to Impress is seeking mild & cold weather outdoor work wear and office wear in all sizes, styles and for all genders. Clothing is accessed by local job seekers for interviews and for the first weeks on the job. With the support of the community-at-large and via the GNWT Anti-poverty fund, Dress to Impress supported 71 individuals working for 21 employers in 2018-2019.

Dress to Impress provides jobseekers with professional clothing to wear to upcoming job interviews and the first weeks on the job. Its single aim is to reduce the initial costs to those who are beginning employment.

 

How can you help

Dress to Impress is seeking warm & cold weather outdoor work wear and office wear in all sizes, styles and for all genders. Items in high demand include;

  • safety work boots, coats, and overalls (both mild and cold weather gear);
  • office wear (pants, shirts, sweaters, blouses etc.) including accessories (belts, shoes, etc.)

 

Donated clothing should be gently worn, appropriate, in good condition, contemporary and clean. Consider items that are permanent press, washable and do not require dry cleaning.

Any clothing received and not used by Dress to Impress will be donated to local charities.
