François Afane

Having graduated with a Master’s degree in Project Management and trained in Business Administration François cumulates more than 10 years of experience in community, private and governmental sectors. Before taking the helm of the CDÉTNO’s, he was the Connector Program’s Coordinator at the Conseil Économique et Coopératif de la Saskatchewan (CÉCS), CDÉTNO’s counterpart organization in Saskatchewan, and member of RDÉE Canada. Today, he actively works with his team to expand CDÉTNO’s positive impact on the community and to help with the economic development in the territories.

Nadine Cantin

Having obtained her diploma in office automation at O’Sullivan College in Quebec, Nadine has over 18 years of experience in administration and accounting. She has gained extensive experience through several types of businesses. She has been in Yellowknife since September 2018 and is still exploring the Northwest Territories.



Carine Ouedraogo

Graduated with a Master’s degree in Marketing, Communication and Business Strategies from a Business School in France (INSEEC Lyon), Carine has a proven experience in management, communication and marketing developed through employment with the private sector and nonprofit organizations in both France and Canada. She is in charge of coordinating CDÉTNO’s communication operations and implementing its marketing strategy with support to partners.

Mila Benoit

Trained in Business Administration at Laval University in Quebec City, Mila has acquired strong management and sustainable development skills. With experience in the field of corporate change management, Mila’s goal with CDÉTNO is to provide support to francophone and francophile entrepreneurs looking to grow or bring new ideas in suuport of the economic development of the Northwest Territories.


Zakaria Traoré

Graduated with two master’s degrees (University of Geneva and IHEID Geneva) covering the fields of institutions, societies, law and development, Zakaria Traore has a multidisciplinary academic background. He has worked for many years in schools and non-profit organizations in Saskatchewan. He has good experience not only with immigration procedures, settlement and integration of newcomers, but also, with supporting students and staff in the school environment.
Zakaria Traore is responsible for the implementation of the Settlement Worker In Schools program (SWIS).

Aleksandar Kovacevic

Aleksandar holds two academic degrees, a Bachelor Degree in French language and literature (University of Belgrade, Serbia) and a Master Degree in Political Science (University of Quebec in Montreal). He has over 10 years of experience in non-profit organizations in Europe and in Canada. Aleksandar begins his professional career with CDÉTNO after working as a Liaison Immigration Officer with an employability organization in the province of Quebec.

Sira Diabira

As a graduate of Laval University in Economics and Politics, Sira has lived in many countries and been in contact with different cultures. Her many trips in Africa, Europe and now North America have given her solid experience in communication and leadership. As employee of CDÉTNO, she is coordinate the initiation of youth to entrepreneurship project while also supervising the tourism portfolio.

Mercy Beilem Mfombe

Mercy Beilem was born in Cameroon and holds a Bachelor of Arts in English. Before joining the NWT Career Centre, she worked as an administrative secretary and counselor with the Society for Women and AIDS in Africa (SWAA-Cameroon) for ten years. She utilizes her skills and experience to help job seekers at the NWT Career Centre.


Gordon Ross

With 12 years of local, provincial and national experience in recruitment, facilitation and labour market activities (including diversity & inclusion initiatives), Gordon has returned to Yellowknife to support and enhance the collaborative work ongoing within the NWT labour market. He has studied Business Administration & Marketing through Seneca College and holds certificates in advanced communication, leadership and career development.

Alexander Jones

As a recent bachelor’s degree graduate from Laval University in economics and political science, Alexander completed his postsecondary education in Quebec to live in a complete French immersion. An internship at CDETNO is a great opportunity to not only speak French everyday, but to gain pertinent experience in his field of study, while living north of the sixtieth parallel.
