Report to: Manager Housekeeping / Laundry
Basic Function: In this hands on role you will look to drive the productivity, motivation and development of all Housekeeping team members whist ensuring high standards and company guidelines are maintained.
Overall Purpose of the Job:
To ensure standards of cleanliness, hygiene and tidiness are maintained throughout the Hospital to manage the Dept. efficiently to maintain standards.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
*to report to work 5-10 minutes before the start of shift to prepare for morning safety meeting.
*carry Supervisor cell phone during shift.
*assigns workers their duties and inspects work for performance to prescribed standards of cleanliness.
*investigates complaints regarding housekeeping services and equipment and takes corrective action.
*obtains list of rooms to be cleaned immediately and list of prospective check outs or discharges to prepare work assignments.
*coordinates work activities among departments.
*conducts orientation training and in-service training to explain policies and to demonstrate use and maintenance of equipment.
*inventories stock to ensure adequate supplies and places all paper products orders each week.
*makes recommendations to improve service and ensure more efficient operation.
*perform cleaning duties as schedules or in cases of emergencies, staff shortages and project cleaning as assigned.
*examines building to determine need for repairs, and report issues to maintenance via Service Requestion.
*attends staff meetings to discuss company policies and patrons complaints as needed.
*Establishes standards and procedures for work of housekeeping staff.
*Coordinates/reassigns staff to assist in urgent cleanings of rooms.
*Quality control checks of Departments.
*Assign deep cleanings tasks to team members as needed.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Job Qualifications:
*Ability to work on own initiative
*Ability to work under pressure and resolve problems
*Ability to motivate a team
*Physically fit – the role requires medium to heavy lifting and step ladder work
*excellent written and spoken English
*The ability to anticipate client needs, change goals and direction quickly and multitask.

Required Education : High School or equivalent. Post secondary education and or previous experience in Housekeeping considered an asset. Candidates must provide a satisfactory Criminal Records check.
Required Experience: 1-2 years experience in Health Care Housekeeping considered an asset.
· Located in Yellowknife at Stanton Territorial Hospital
· Full time position 37.5 hours per week
· Schedule is Sunday – Thursday per week.
· 7:30am – 3:30pm daily
